Trey thought he was too "out of shape" to do CrossFit, but an invite from a friend helped him find community and encouragement!

Trey Mills has been a member at Townie since November of 2018. He quickly found a home at Townie in our noon class and soon after invited his wife to join him at the gym. Trey has been consistent in his training since day 1 and has seen huge fitness improvements inside the gym and in his work as a plantation manager and Dog Trainer at Mayhaw Plantation.

What brought you to Townie in the first place?

I have always heard about CrossFit but really didn’t think I was in shape enough to even attempt it, but then I was at Allgood Embroidery one day and Marty Lutes said that I needed to come and I would enjoy it. He along with a few other people I knew is pretty much what drew me to Townie.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?

Once I got there and started my foundation classes I realized how just how out of shape I had gotten. But as most guys are, I’m super competitive and driven to improve. So I told myself that I would push myself to keep up with Brad and Marty at the noon crew.

What was your first “Bright Spot” or accomplishment?

My first bright spot really was seeing how just in a few months my cardio changed for the better. I do believe that my first Toes to Bar was my first big accomplishment though.

What are you working on now?

Right now I’m working on getting my T2B rhythm so I can get some big sets. I’m also working on my first muscle up.

What is your favorite thing about working out at Townie?

My favorite thing about Townie is how close and tight knit the community is and also how the coaches and members challenge you, but everyone is encouraging at the same time. All the coaches are enthusiastic and very motivating.
