This Monday (2/4) we are kicking off a new programming cycle and we couldn’t be more excited to help you all reach new heights in your fitness. Here’s what to expect this week and moving forward:
-
New Movements – banded sumo deadlifts anyone? Get ready to try new movements every week and challenge yourself with movements you’ve never even heard of (don’t worry that’s why you have a coach ; )
-
Accessory Work – these are typically single joint movements performed at the end of the workout to help reduce the risk of injury as well as rehabilitate existing injuries. Not to mention the accessory work is going to make you look and feel awesome! How about those KB curls?
-
Low Intensity Training Days – not every day can be 100% effort and it shouldn’t be. Our coaches are going to educate you on which days are designed for high intensity and which days should be performed at lower effort as it fits into the greater plan. Listen to your coaches!
-
Strength/Skill Work – who wants to get stronger? How about that first pull up? Expect to see more time devoted solely to getting stronger moving our bodyweight and moving external loads. We’re going to need a bigger board because I see a lot of personal records in our future!
-
Recovery – going harder or training more does NOT guarantee results, but proper nutrition, sleep, and a balance of high-intensity work does! Expect to see an emphasis on recovery to help you look better and feel better too.
-
Tiered Programming – instead of just scaled and Rx, each days workout will have 3 different levels to choose from based on the individual. Of course these levels only act as a guideline and your coach will help you determine the best course of action for your workout.
-
Classic CrossFit – you’re still going to see many of the benchmark workouts and hero WODs we have all come to know and love. Expect to see these workouts continue to improve with the help of a smarter approach to your training.
-
Monthly Goals and Focus – each month will have a goal and focus with opportunities throughout the month to practice and train. At the end of the month we will test our new skills and celebrate our progress together.
Classes may look a little different this week, but all you have to do is show up to class ready to work and try some new things. Our coaches will take care of the rest and teach you everything you need to know. Expect the same Townie experience you know and love only better!
As well as the change in programming you will also notice a few changes in Triib. The leader board is no longer ranked by workout score, but instead will be randomly populated as people track their workouts for the day. This is to help encourage members to track their workouts and record data, which is going to be increasingly important moving forward. Track your data friends so we can celebrate your progress!
We truly are so thankful that each of you has trusted us with your fitness and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. Our team is always learning and always striving to improve and provide our clients with the best possible training and fitness program around. We will continue to pursue excellence in all we do and aim to make the best hour of your day even better. Get ready for an awesome week and we’ll see you at the gym!
